Oloroso Viejo : Saray García

“Oloroso Viejo” is a flamenco company that originated from the gipsy quarters in Jerez de la Frontera, where flamenco music has been given on from one generation to the next for many centuries.
No music schools nor conservatories: the flamenco knowledge picked up from family and at spontaneous parties amongst friends and in the streets are still the core basics for every artist.
Oloroso Viejo” is flamenco of the 21st century, performed by the newest generation of professional artists. They present a timeless form of flamenco, which is at the time upright and spontaneous.
The principal role in “Oloroso Viejo” is performed by Saray Garcia, who stems from a family with a thorough and ancient flamenco tradition.
Her dancing style reflects an upright personality with an extraordinary energy and sensitivity.

Saray Garcia is a stylish and spicy flamenco dancer who combines grace with generosity.

Other group members are:
* Miguel Angel Heredia
* Jésus Méndez
* Felipa del Moreno
Manuel Valencia : a true grandmaster in the accompaniment of song and dance. He is the nephew and pupil of flamenco icon Fernando Terremoto.
He was also a student of Gerardo Nuñez, a.o.

Aire Gitano

All the group members of Aire Gitano stem from Jerez de la Frontera’s famous gipsy quarters: Barrio San Miguel and Barrio Santiago.
Both of these barrios are truely infamous amonst any flamenco lover. This is the homestead of families which have for centuries, generation after generation, produced magnificent artists and which hence have played a major role in the history of the ARTE FLAMENCO.
This "homely" and crafty tradition is simply unique in the musical world. The good news is that this homestead of flamenco still keeps on producing highly talented young artists.
Aire Gitano is the living proof that flamenco, not in the least in these legendary gipsy quarters, is not merely folcloristic, but an actual and living artform.
It is a great relief and reassurement to many an artlover to see that even in these modern and hightech times there are stille young, talented artists who take their turn in a rich tradition.
The formation Aire Gitano has all the assets to become an important representant of that extraordinary jerezian flamenco culture.

AIRE GITANO is :

• singer  Jésus Méndez
• singer  Felipa del Moreno
• dancer  Miguel Angel Heredia
• guitarist  Manuel Valencia : a grand talent as an accompanist of song and dance.
The nephew and student of flamenco greatness Fernando Terremoto.
Also a disciple of a.o. Gerardo Nuñez.

A performance by Aire Gitano is Flamenco at its best.
It is exciting, touching, moving and deep. But above all it is a beautiful and comlete evening of flamenco.
