Dancer Patricia Valdes stems from San Fernando (Cadiz), Spain’s deep south, which also produced the legendary flamenco singer Camaron de la Isla.
San Fernando is a most poetic place located along the bay of Cadiz, nearly enclosed by the salinas. But above all, it is a town which has earned a highly important place in the history of Arte Flamenco.
Patricia Valdes belongs to a prominent local flamenco family. She took courses at many dancing academies in San Fernando, but she learned the most about flamenco in the gipsy environment and at the many juergas frequented by her family and friends in Cadiz, Jerez or Chiclana.
Mano a mano with e.g. Sara Baras – a fellow townswoman from the same generation – she soon developed to become a grand and elegant flamenco dancer.
Patricia Valdes has a very pure and powerful style. A paragon of Flamenco Puro. Her dancing reflects a warm personality comprising a most special form of energy and emotions.
Do not expect her to present the newest techniques, but be amazed by her marked, warm and stunning flamenco dancing performance.
She performed in some of the most important theatres in Japan, the US and Spain.
Nowadays, she mostly performs with her own flamenco company as well as with Arte y Pureza, a very special flamenco programme in which she performs alongside her husband, singer Antonio Reyes and guitar player Pascual de Lorca.
