Luis Perdigero

It has been long known that a highly talented and young generation of artists at the Arte Flamenco is stepping forward.

In the gipsyworld there are also some fabulous young people who dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the Cante Flamenco and who do everything in their power to be able to follow the footsteps of illustrious examples such as Manolo Caracol or Antonio Mairena.
Luis Perdiguero (Malaga, 1979) is one of those young artists. The fact that they are willing to continue the tradition of their forefathers, a tradition which has been around for over a century, is simply unvaluable.

Even though he was born in Malaga, Luis Perdiguero has his roots in the Barrio Santiago of Jerez de la Frontera. For example, he is the great-grandson of de legendary female flamenco singer “Tia Anica La Piriñaca”. But above all, he is a disciple of grand jerezian figures such as Luis el Zambo and Fernando Terremoto.

Within his gipsy family, Luis Perdiguero was fed Arte Flamenco with the mother’s milk.
At the age of only 5, he had his debut at a flamenco festival in Ronda. The bill also had names such as Camarón, Chano Lobato, Juan Villar, Pansequito and Juana la del Revuelo on it.
From the age of 17, he has been a full-time flamenco singer. His main working ground is Andalucia, with its numerous festivals and peñas, as well as Madrid’s tablaos and in addition, he also performed in France, Belgium and Argentina.

Luis Perdiguero’s style is very traditional and puro.
He didn’t choose the eclectic path, but has proven to be a loyal and dedicated interpreter of the better Cante Flamenco. All of this maintains the style of those many gipsies before him, especially those in his own family.

The Cante Gitano has a future. Luis Perdiguero is now coming to northern Europe for a limited series of concerts.
Without a doubt an event to look forward to for any aficionado.
