Gerardo Núñez is widely considered as one of the best guitarists of our time. Whilst he is deeply invested in traditional Flamenco, this has not withheld him from experimenting with different influences such as Jazz and Latin music, in doing so he has become one of the pioneers of the Flamenco Nuevo. Throughout the years Núñez has collaborated with numerous artists such as: tenor star Plácido Domingo, pop-idol Julio Iglesias, harp player Andreas Vollenweider and rock band Mecano. More recently Núñez joined forces with Ulf Wakenius for the album ‘Logos’ (ACT Music, 2016), which has received critical acclaim throughout.
Growing up in Jerez de la Frontera, Gerardo Núñez listened to flamenco but also to American rock and jazz. He studied at the Cátedra de Flamencología in Jerez before moving to Madrid, where he worked with various dance troupes, including the Mario Maya Dance Company, where he met dancer Carmen Cortés, who eventually became his wife. As a composer, his music is described as both rich and complex, which allows him to demonstrate his virtuosic playing ability.
Do not miss out on experiencing one of the best guitar players of our era live.
