DESDE LA BARROSA

Desde la Barrosa

La Barrosa is an idyllic place in Chiclana de la Frontera at the bay of Cadiz, where the legendary Torre Bermeja is also located. It’s a beach that brought inspiration to a lot of musicians. It inspired Isaac Albeniz to write “Torre Bermeja” and what drove the master himself, guitarist Paco de lucia, to write the Alegria known as “La Barrosa”. The song that was first released on his album “Sirocco” in 1987, which soon after became a genre-defining classic. Dancer Patricia Valdes and singer Antonio Reyes are the ones responsible for the creation of this production and they both originate from Chiclana de la Frontera. La Barrosa has always been a part of their lives.

“Desde La Barrosa” premiered last year in Cadez and was critically acclaimed by public and press alike. Subsequently Sevilla and the rest of Spain were next. In this piece, the protagonists bring extremely varied palos. From Nanas, Farrucas and Tanguillos up to Soleares, Seguirillas, Martinetes and Romance. What is also special about this production is the reference to the work and achievements of both Manolo Caracol and Lola Flores in the Zambra in which dancer Patricia Valdes and singer Antonio Reyes play the lead role.

“Desde La Barrosa” is a spectacle suitable for a wide audience. It provides enough colour, splendour and variety so that both the most demanding Aficionado and the curious newcomers fully come into their own.
